Privacy Policy
Last updated September 15, 2026.
Fretone does not collect or store any information that identifies you personally, and doesn't ask you to create an account. Since September 15, 2026, the app uses Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics (both from Google) for basic, automatic usage and crash data — see "Analytics and crash reporting" below for exactly what that means. Before that date the app made no network requests of any kind; that's no longer accurate, and this policy reflects what's actually true now.
Microphone access
The Tuner uses your device's microphone to detect the pitch of your instrument in real time. That audio is processed on-device only — it is never recorded, saved, or sent anywhere (including to Firebase), and is discarded immediately after each analysis.
Analytics and crash reporting
The app uses Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics, both provided by Google, to understand basic usage patterns and diagnose crashes. This is automatic collection only — the app does not log custom events for specific actions (which room you opened, which chord you played, and so on).
Firebase Analytics: automatically-collected usage data such as app opens, session length, screen views, general device/OS information, and approximate location derived from IP address (city- or region-level, not precise). This does not include an advertising identifier (IDFA) — the app doesn't link Apple's advertising-tracking frameworks at all, so no cross-app or cross-site tracking happens, and no App Tracking Transparency prompt is needed for this.
Firebase Crashlytics: automatic crash and non-fatal-error reports — a stack trace, device/OS information, and app state at the moment of a crash, so problems can actually get fixed.
This data is processed by Google under Firebase's own terms; see Google's Privacy Policy and Firebase's own documentation for how Google itself handles it. Fretone doesn't sell this data or share it with anyone beyond Google/Firebase's standard processing.
No accounts, no ads
Fretone has no user accounts and no sign-in. It shows no advertising.
About this website
This policy covers the Fretone app. This site (the page you're reading now) is a separate, static site and may use an optional analytics cookie to understand which pages people visit — never used to identify you personally, and never shared with or connected to the app itself. You'll see a banner asking before any such cookie is set, and can decline it entirely.
